KARACHI, Sept 26: Opener Shahzaib Hasan slammed his third century of the tournament to put Karachi Blues in a strong position on day two of their three-day PCB Inter-region Under-19 Cricket Championship fifth-round match against Quetta at the PCB Academy Ground on Friday.

Shahzaib hit a superb 107 in just under three hours off 124 balls studded with 11 boundaries and a brace of sixes as Karachi Blues piled up 341 for five wickets in their stipulated 83 overs in the first innings in reply to Quetta’s first innings total of 170. Karachi Blues thus have gained a mammoth 171 runs first innings lead.

Shahzaib and Abdul Jabbar, who hit six boundaries and two sixes in his 75, added 161 runs for the second wicket. Ishtiaq-ur-Rehman made 67 with six boundaries and Osama Shah finished undefeated on 57 laced with seven fours.

When stumps were drawn for the day, Quetta were 101 for three in their second innings. Taimur Khan was batting on 32. Quetta are still 70 runs behind Karachi Blues with seven wickets intact. Leg-spinner Shahzaib, who destroyed Quetta batting in first innings with seven for 63 in 25.4 overs, added two wickets for 24 in the second.
