COPENHAGEN, Sept 24: Denmark confirmed on Wednesday that a member of its security services was among the victims of Saturday’s suicide bombing of the Marriott hotel in Islamabad.
Karsten Krabbe, 54, was in Islamabad to improve security in the Danish embassy, which itself was the target of a suicide bomb attack on June 2, the head of Danish intelligence Jakob Scharf said.
“It is with deep sadness that we learn of the loss of a much-appreciated colleague... dead in a cowardly and brutal terrorist attack,” said Scharf in a statement. Krabbe, a father of two, was lodging at the five-star Marriott hotel in Islamabad, where his remains were identified at the capital’s medico-legal institute.—AFP
