MIRPURKHAS: Protest turns violent

MIRPURKHAS, Sept 24: Hundreds of deserving and needy women pelted stones at moving vehicles and policemen during a protest against non-release of Baitul Maal and zakat funds outside the office of district nazim on Wednesday.

The protesters raised slogans, demanding that the district administration pay them funds. They said that they were called to the office every Wednesday but they and they had still not received their share in the funds.

They said they had already completed all the formalities and also submitted applications with photo copies of national identity cards still the office was not releasing them funds.

Khalid Rajput, assistant to district nazim, said that the nazim’s office had a transparent system of zakat and Baitul Maal funds distribution.—Correspondent
