KARACHI, Sept 23: The regular and contractual staff of the Sindh Sports Board (SSB) is likely to get their three months outstanding salaries before Eid as the government has sanctioned a sum of four million rupees in this regard.

“Yes the cheques are in process of signing and the staff across the province will get them soon,” a knowledgeable source confided to Dawn on Tuesday.

The staffers have not been paid salaries since June, making it extremely difficult for them to make two ends meet.

Despite cabinet decision the contractual employees of the SSB are still awaiting to get their jobs regularised.

Meanwhile, the source further disclosed that the Sindh chief secretary has ordered an enquiry against the former secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs and a former Director General of the SSB, Ghulam Akbar Shah Bokhari for not submitting accounts of the 30th National Games and the Sindh Games.

The Sindh Chief Minister Inspection Team has started probe on the directives of the chief secretary.

The BPS 19 grade post of the SSB director is still lying vacant following retirement of Bokhari on Aug 13.

It was further learnt that no notification has been issued after the Department Promotion Committee (DPC) meeting which was held on July 31.
