KARACHI, Sept 23: Usmanabad Union levelled with Gulshan FC 1-1 in the 38th KASB Premier League Football (PLF) match played at the CDGK Stadium on Monday night.

The match, which happened to be the last PLF encounter before the Eid break, saw two equally-matched teams fighting it out for a win which none has been able to achieve so far.

First blood was drawn by Gulshan FC through their striker Asif Bakhsh in the ninth minute of the match. Asif converted a beautiful pass from fellow striker Liaquat Ali from just outside the penalty box which Usmanabad’s goalkeeper Mohammad Ibrahim couldn’t get to in time.

The 11th and 12th minutes saw Usmanabad’s striker Sohail Khan miss out on two good opportunities when Gulshan’s goalkeeper Adnan leapt to block both attempts.

Then in the 24th minute, Usmanabad were awarded a penalty kick but goalkeeper Adnan dived to his right to pounce on the ball sent that way by Usmanabad’s skipper and midfielder Mohammad Nasir.

Gulshan too had their share of misses. They got a good chance in the 26th minute but striker Liaquat’s powerful shot bounced off the crossbar.

The score at interval was 1-0.

The 68th minute saw Usmanbad scoring off a free kick. The kick taken by Ijaz Jr from the left side was sent inside the net by Imran Sr’s header.

Gulshan FC’s departmental players Akbar Ali and Mohammad Rizwan and Usmanabad Union’s skipper Nasir Ali were also shown yellow cards by Refereee Yunus Lal during the match.

Akbar Ali won’t be able to represent Gulshan in their next encounter after the Eid break as this was his second yellow card in the tournament.

Matches will resume on Oct 9 after the Eid break.

In the matches played so far, 115 goals were scored. Seventy-six players were shown the yellow card while eight got double yellow with four players getting the red card.
