They said wardens were slamming Rs1,000 fine on them for minor violations and impounding their vehicles for days. Van owners’ representatives Abdul Hamid and Rana Amjad alleged that traffic police and the Regional Transport Authority staff were teasing van owners to ‘benefit’ a franchised bus service, which was owned by a former transport minister.

They said traffic wardens were misbehaving with drivers, conductors and passengers over minor issues. They said some traffic police inspectors should be transferred from the city to ease the situation for transport owners, their staff and passengers.
