KARACHI, Sept 23: The Sindh chapter of Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) has demanded removal of Prime Minister’s Adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik for repeated security lapses despite having prior information of terrorists, designs of attack.

PML-N information secretary of Sindh chapter Zahid Rafique Butt made this demand at a press conference held here on Tuesday.

The party’s acting President Saleem Zia was also present. He said the government had reports that terrorists were planning another attack.

Mr Butt condemned the recent suicide attack on Marriot Hotel in Islamabad. He said some one should take responsibility of the lapse of security which resulted into the gravest incident in the history of the country.

He asked the government to set up a fund from which families of victims of terrorism could be supported.

He also suggested the government to call a joint session of parliament to debate the issue and to determine whether the ongoing war was a war for Islam, Pakistan or for some foreign power.

He said street crime in Karachi was on the rise and it appeared as if the government was pursuing the same old policies and it was not a democratic change but a mere change of faces.

He suggested that a national conference of all political forces be called and elected and non-elected representatives of people should be taken into confidence to formulate a policy to meet the challenge of terrorism.

He said it would have been far better if President Asif Ali Zardari before going to the UN had taken mandate from elected and non-elected political forces of the country.

Mr Butt lamented that at this critical juncture Sindh government coalition partners were indulging themselves in distribution of government jobs instead of making open merit the sole criteria for jobs.

The PML-N leader also accused the government of implicating their party workers in baseless cases and registering false FIRs to harass them.

He said the PML-N Sindh was united in the leadership of Justice Syed Ghous Ali Shah.
