KARACHI, Sept 22: Aga Khan Gymkhana Youth edged past Hadi Youth 1-0 to win the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Six-a-side Under-18 Ramazan Floodlit Football Tournament at Gulberg Town’s T-Ground on Sunday night.

The game’s initial 10 minutes had Aga Khan launching strong attacks over their opponents, all saved brilliantly by Hadi Youth’s goalkeeper Omar Ali. The match winner though came in the 26th minute through Aga Khan’s striker Shakaib.

In the final of the side tournament, the Hadi Salim Tabani Memorial Football Tournament for Clubs, Rizwan Sports beat Sixteen Stars 4-3.

The fast-paced match saw striker Zaman scoring for Rizwan Sports in 19th minute followed by Sixteen Stars restoring parity in the 27th minute.

The 1-1 score remained till the end of regulation time and the match had to be decided on penalty kicks. Aga Khan Gymkhana Youth bagged the winners trophy along with a cash prize of Rs5,000 while runners up Hadi Youth received Rs3,000 along with the runners up trophy.

In the club event, the winners were presented with new kits along with the winner’s trophies. Provincial Minister Khalid bin Wilayet, the chief guest on the occasion, distributed the prizes.

The highlight of the day was a festival match of two 12-minute halves organised to celebrate FIFA Fair Play Day. The match between Media XI and Ex-Internationals XI, played in between the two finals, saw former Pakistan coach Tariq Lutfi captaining Ex-Internationals to a 5-2 victory.

The first goal for Ex-Internationals was scored by striker Salim Patni in the second minute followed by another by midfielder Shamim Khan in the 8th minute. Two minutes later midfielder Ghulam Sarwar gave the winners their third goal to make the score 3-0 at halftime.

The second session saw Media XI making a comeback. Their captain and midfielder Nasim Rajput’s pass was converted by striker Tariq Aslam in the 14th minute followed by a second scored the next minute through Nasim Rajput’s solo effort.

The final minutes saw Ex-Internationals scoring two more goals through Shamim Khan (18th min) and Tariq Lutfi (24th min) to seal the fate of the match.

The FIFA Fair Play celebrations, including spectacular fire works, carried on till the wee hours of Monday morning. The matches were watched by a big crowd of 2,000 people.
