HYDERABAD, Sept 22: The PPP government is working on a multidimensional strategy by encouraging non-governmental organisations in helping eradicate poverty from the society, said Sindh Minister for Women Development Ms Tauqir Fatima.

Speaking during Eid gift distribution ceremony arranged by an NGO in Latifabad No.7 on Sunday, she said that the government had decided to launch Benazir Bhutto Food Card which will provide employment and help in reviving economic activities at grassroots level. This, she added, will go a long way in eliminating poverty as the government would encourage NGOs engaged in welfare works.

She said that there were many deserving destitute people with good potentials but lacked opportunities and their services can be utilised in a better way.

Citing the example of Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Programme, she said that government was planning permanent rehabilitation of these people by enabling them to earn their livelihood adding that the purpose of it was to make use of their skills.

She called upon the philanthropists, industrialists and well-to-do people to provide employment opportunities to the poor and unskilled people for minimising the rate of poverty.
