SHIKARPUR: Protest against outages

Published September 23, 2008

SHIKARPUR, Sept 22: Perturbed by the absence of electricity in their localities for the past three days, residents of Mehar Shah Qubo Mohalla, Gagrani Street, and Chorigar Bazaar on Monday took to the streets to protest prolonged outages.

The protesters took out a rally followed by a demonstration at Lakhi-Gate Tower Chowk. They set fire to tyres and blocked the road. Chanting slogans against the Hyderabad Electricity Supply Company (Hesco), they called for an early restoration of power supply to their areas. The protesters alleged that despite payment of Rs10,000 to the Hesco staff for the repair of transformer, power supply to their localities had not been restored so far.
