MITHI, Sept 22: Villagers of Nagarparkar taluka who use solar-generated power complained on Monday of excessive and unjustified billing by the contractor of the solar energy project.

Abdul Latif Rahoomo, former nazim of Tugusar union council, Mohammad Ali and Abdul Karim of Ranpario village appealed to the prime minister, federal minister for power and chairman of Alternate Energy Development Board (AEDB) to take notice of the injustice.

The project director of the AEDB had said in his press statements that Rs100 per month would be charged per connection but the henchmen of the project’s contractor were charging the poor villagers Rs150, Rs200 and Rs300 respectively without issuing them any receipt, the villagers alleged.

A large number of houses in Ranpario, Tagusar, Sahu Sand and other villages of the taluka had got connections of solar-generated electricity, they said.

They said that they complained to the DCO of Tharparkar, who directed them to meet the project director of AEDB in Mithi but the latter did not take their complaint seriously.

They demanded high-level probe into the excess billing and called for the transfer of the project director of AEDB from Mithi.
