KARACHI, Sept 19: Salim Patli Youth defeated Pasha’s Youth 1-0 and Nasir Ismail Youth beat Aurora FC 6-5 to complete the semi-finals’ line-up in the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Six-a-side Under-18 Ramazan Floodlight Football Tournament at Gulberg Town’s T-Ground here on Thursday evening.

The other two teams that already reached the last-four stage are Hadi Tabani XI and Aga Khan Gymkhana Youth.

In the side event, the Hadi Saleem Tabani Memorial Football Tournament for Clubs, FC Rovers bulldozed Fayyaz XI, Rizwan Sports overcame Lyari Brothers, Karachi Flames outclassed Nazimabad Sports and Sixteen Stars thrashed Young Azizabad to make it to the semi-finals.

The encounter between Salim Patli Youth and Pasha’s Youth turned out to be a low-scoring affair. The match’s only goal was scored by Patli’s striker Aqueel in the 23th minute.

The winning side’s goalie Naveed deserves a special pat on the back for the goals he saved.

The other match between Nasir Ismail Youth and Aurora FC was decided on penalty kicks after both the teams failed to score in duration time. Nasir Ismail Youth won by 6-5, finally.

In the club tournament, FC Rovers trounced Fayyaz XI by 4-0. The goals for the winners came through striker Sikander (10th and 14th mins) and midfielder Talha (23rd and 37th mins).

Rizwan Sports won their match with Lyari Brothers through penalty kicks after a 2-2 draw.

Lyari Brothers’ two goals came through striker Naveed (16th min) and midfielder Shamim Akhtar (28th min) while Nur Ali (30th min) and Sher Ali (37th min) scored for the winning side.

The match was finally won by Rizwan Sports 6-5 through penalty shootouts. Much fowl play was also witnessed during the match with three of Rizwan Sports’ players, namely, Shahnawaz, Mohammad Zaman and Sher Ali getting yellow cards.

Karachi Flames won their match against Nazimabad Sports 2-1. Striker Jamil (19th min) and midfielder Badar (28th min) scored for the winners while Mohsin Khan could only manage to reduce the deficit for Nazimabad Sports in the 37th minute.

The Sixteen Stars vs Young Azizabad match was won by Sixteen Stars 1-0. The decider, scored by striker Mohammad Tariq, came in the 22nd minute.

Sixteen Stars goalkeeper Mohammad Shahid made some brilliant saves.
