CAIRO, Sept 17: Al-Jazeera TV network has aired a short video clip showing two journalists, a Canadian and an Australian, who have been abducted and held hostage by Somali extremists for nearly a month.

Canadian Amanda Lindhout and Australian freelance photographer Nigel Brennan appeared in the video to appeal to their governments to work for their release, the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera said.

The video was aired on Tuesday. The kidnappers, according to the Qatar-based TV network, are members of the so-called Mujahedeen of Somalia, which accuses the governments of Australia and Canada of “contributing to the destruction of Somalia.”
