RAWALPINDI, Sept 14: A row between the jewellers and the police seems to have settled following threats by the traders that they would go on strike against the behaviour of the law enforcers.

City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Mohammad Iqbal assured the traders that the police would not enter any jewellery shop without prior permission of the association of gold traders in Sarafa Bazaar.

The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), which is the representative body of local traders, earlier complained to the CPO about the rude behaviour of the police towards traders of the gold market.

Accompanied by representatives of traders’ bodies, RCCI President Abdur Rauf Chaudhry urged CPO Iqbal to ensure dignity and respect of the traders of gold market.—A Reporter
