RAWALPINDI, Sept 14: A gang of four armed men hijacked a truck loaded with gas cylinders from Chauntra and drove it to Peshawar where they released the driver and then escaped with the booty, police said.

Tahir Mehmood, the robbery victim, complained to the police that he was on his way to Rawalpindi when four armed men intercepted him and forcibly hijacked his truck and took it to Peshawar.

He said on reaching a deserted place, the hijackers snatched Rs10,000 and a mobile phone from him and after dropping him there, escaped in his truck loaded with gas cylinders.

Meanwhile, a pickup van (GTE-003) owned by Abdul Qudoos was taken away by thieves from Sadiqabad while another car (IDF-1225) was stolen from New Town.

A man was arrested along with his brother-in-law and nephew for torturing his wife in the jurisdiction of Taxila police station on Saturday.

Shaista Bibi, wife of Abdul Razzaq, told the police that she was at her house when her husband, his brother-in-law and nephew came there and had a brawl with her.
