MULTAN, Sept 14: Rajanpur police lodged two more FIRs against four people to keep them in jail at the behest of ‘complainants’ because they were declared innocent in a murder case registered against them some four months ago.

Reports said that two cousins, Ahmed Ali and Ahmed Nawaz of Mauza Shahwali, Rojhan tehsil, had two cases of theft and damaging the goods registered against Shah Gul, Noor Khan, Chibhur, Wahid Bakhsh, Kohi, Murad, Bilawal, Said Khan, Lal Khan and Khuda Bakhsh.

The Shahwali police had lodged two FIRs against the accused on Sept 12 without mentioning the date of occurrence of incidents.

Four of the 10 nominated accused -- Chibhur, Kohi, Murad and Wahid Bakhsh, who are already behind bars for four months, were to be released within few days.

Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Habibullah Sikhani, a relative of the accused, alleged that Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akram had lodged false FIRs against them after receiving bribe from complainants.

He claimed that the Rojhan DSP had already declared them innocent after a thorough investigation into a fabricated murder case and their release was expected any day.

Sikhani said the police had neither mentioned the date of incidents nor pointed out the cause of damaging the goods.

He demanded an impartial inquiry into false cases and a strict action against the corrupt police officials.

Rajanpur DPO Dr Muhammad Rizwan said that incidents might have occurred long time ago and that the situation would be clear after investigation.

Sub-Inspector Muhammad Akram was not unavailable for comment.
