‘Suicide bomber’ arrested

ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: A suicide bomber was reportedly arrested along with explosives by personnel of intelligence agencies from outside a mosque here on Saturday, sources told Dawn.

However, the capital city police have denied any such an arrest, and said it might have been the work of some intelligence agency.

The sources said that the security guard deployed at the mosque, located at I-8/4 spotted a man running towards the mosque where Taraveeh Prayers were in progress.

The guards tried to intercept him but on failure they hit him with the butt of the gun behind his head. As a result he fell down and the explosives tied with his waist were exposed. In the meantime a pistol also fell from him.

Some people, apparently from agency’s personnel, following him appeared at the scene and overpowered him. Later he was taken away by the personnel. Another suspect was arrested from F-11/4.
