SUKKUR, Sept 13: A bloody dispute lingering on since last 10 years between Lakhan and Sundrani clansmen was brought to an end through a jirga held in village Fateh Pur near Ghotki on Saturday.
According to reports, a jirga under the presidentship of MPA Mir Abid Sundrani was held to resolve the dispute between Sundrani and Lakhan clansmen. Sardar Zulfiqar Lakhan represented Lakhan clansmen and Mir Israr Khan Sundrani represented Sundrani clansmen.
Jirga gave patient hearing to both parties and after thorough discussion Sundrani clansmen were found guilty of killing two Lakhan clansmen. A fine of Rs960,000 was imposed on them, while for injuring two Sundrani clansmen, Lakhan clansmen were fined Rs240,000. Sundrani clansmen paid Rs200,000 on the spot, while the remaining amount will be paid by the end of this year.
Ten years ago, a group of thieves broke into the house of Haji Rabban Lakhan and fled after shooting him dead on resistance. Following the killings Sundranis were booked who later awarded death penalty.
