HYDERABAD, Sept 13: An urgent general body meeting of the Sindh Agriculture University Teachers Association (SAUTA) Tandojam expressed concern over worsening situation at campus as a result of which academic and research activities were badly affected.
According to minutes of the meeting faxed to Dawn on Saturday, it regretted that classes and examinations have been postponed and theft of cotton, animals and trees reported from university experimental farms.
It was decided that the vice chancellor and employee union leaders may be asked to adopt reconciliatory approach to resolve the current situation in the best interest of the university. It was also suggested that the Chancellor of Sindh universities and Governor of Sindh may be requested to take urgent measures to resolve the issue.
The press statement of Noor Ahmed Nizamani, President Sindh Agriculture Forum, regarding SAU old teachers’ activities was also condemned.
The meeting constituted a six-member committee to meet the Vice Chancellor and employee union leaders to know their view point and grievances/complaints so that further talks may be held to resolve current situation.
NAZIM: District Nazim Hyderabad has instructed officials instructed to ensure availability of edible items at lower rates during Ramazan.
The nazim gave these instructions during his visit to Bachat bazaars and complaint centres setup in Latifabad and Qasimabad talukas.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil urged the Sindh government to ensure availability of wheat flour and edible items at utility stores.
Garments, shoes and other items will also be made available in Bachat bazaars during the last 10 days of Ramazan, said EDO Revenue, Syed Barkat Rizvi.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil directed to set up more Bachat bazaars in the city to facilitate people.
Meanwhile, DCO Hyderabad Ali Ahmed Lund clarifying about the price of Adhware Basmati Rice has said that the price of this item had erroneously been shown at Rs84.50 per kg and in retail at Rs87 per kg, instead of Rs59.50 per kg in wholesale and Rs62 per kg in retail.
