KARACHI, Sept 11: Citizens of Karachi braved an unusually hot and dry day on Thursday as the mercury shot up to 41.5 degrees centigrade.

According to a Met Office spokesman, Friday will be no better as equally scorching temperatures are expected.

Along with Thursday’s high temperature, piling on the misery were the prevailing dry conditions in the city, as humidity was recorded at only 23 per cent, while the minimum temperature was registered as 26.5 degrees centigrade.

The Met spokesman told Dawn that very hot and dry weather is expected on Friday, with the maximum temperature probably ranging between 41 and 43 degrees centigrade.

He said the main cause of the rise in temperature was winds blowing from the north and north-west, while the fact that the sea breeze was not blowing had also contributed to the sizzling weather.
