ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has decided to reinstate or regularise services of contractual teachers who won cases in their favour by the Islamabad High Court after approval from the prime minister.

“The directorate is sincere to restore or regularise services of the teachers in light the court's decision and has sent a summary to the prime minister for approval to start the process soon,” sources told this agency.

They added that the directorate had no plan to challenge the court's ruling at any forum and that the summary had recommended all the teachers who got the verdict of the court in their favour.

They said there was a shortage of teachers in the educational institutions of the capital and the FED was taking steps to induct about 496 teachers next month to overcome the problem.

The sources said concrete steps were being taken to enrol maximum out-of-school children and that the efforts were underway to make the capital's colleges and schools as the modal ones for the rest of the country's institutions.

As a par of such efforts, the sources added, that within next two years the education ministry and its partners would be able to achieve 100 per cent literacy in the Islamabad Capital Territory.—APP
