Lawyers protest colleague’s murder

JHANG, Sept 8: Lawyers at Jhang, Chiniot and Shorkot observed a complete strike on Monday to protest the murder of former Chiniot Tehsil Bar Association (TBA) president Syed Ahmad Ali Shah on Sunday evening.

Shah was shot dead by Hasan Shah and two accomplices Mazhar Shah and Munir Husain Lak allegedly over a land dispute.

According to an FIR lodged with Sadar police, Shah was on his way to Chiniot from his village, Kot Ahmad Yar, on a motorcycle. When he reached near Thatta Kanjuan in the outskirts of Chiniot, three men riding on two motorbikes and armed with automatic weapons intercepted him. They later shot at Shah, killing him on the spot.

The police are investigating with no arrest so far.

Meanwhile, the Chiniot TBA has called for a strike till the arrest of the accused.
