Boy killed by van in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD, Sept 7: A minor was killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle here on Sunday.

The incident occurred when a woman along with her four-year-old son, Saqlain Sajad, alighted from a passenger pickup near Chirah village. As they were crossing Lehtrar Road, a wagon hit the child. The driver managed to escape from the accident site after abandoning the vehicle and leaving the minor in a pool of blood. The injured child was taken to a hospital where he died.

Meanwhile, a gang of robbers raided a house in Sector I-10/3 and deprived the family of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables.

Police said four armed persons entered the house of Naveed Khan, an official of Ogra, and held the inmates hostage. The robbers remained there for about an hour and searched the house for valuables. They then escaped with cash, gold ornaments worth Rs400,000 and other household items.

In another incident, Nasreen Bibi lodged a complaint with the Industrial Area police, stating that some burglars broke into her house in Sector I-10/2 and made off with cash, gold ornaments and other valuables. Likewise, Farrukh Rehan’s car was stolen from outside his house in Sector I-10/4.
