GUJRANWALA, Oct 24: A man killed his wife and two minor children and later shot himself dead over a domestic dispute in Bhano Kot Saddar village on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here revealed Sanaullah of Bhano Kot quarrelled with his wife Arifa over house expenditure. In a rush of blood, he opened indiscriminate fire on the members of his family. Arifa and minors Ahsan Iqbal and Fatima died on the spot. Later, he shot himself dead.
Police took out the bodies after breaking the main door and carried these to the Civil Hospital for autopsy.
Further investigations are underway.
NADRA: National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has started distributing computerized National Identity Cards among the applicants.
Sources said here on Wednesday the district registration office had received 13,000 NICs for onward distribution.
On the other hand, scores of people, who had submitted forms with old NICs to the registration office some four months back, have yet to get their cards.
When contacted, the district registration assistant director told this correspondent that 13,000 cards had been received from Nadra and another 30,000 cards would shortly be received for distribution.
He said Nadra had prepared 50,000 cards out of a total of 400,000 till now.
Around 1.3 million forms were distributed among people but only 400,000 of them had applied, a clear indication of a lack of interest at their end, he added.
Some 18 public counters were set up by the authority in and around the city for the convenience of the people, however, the response remained discouraging, he concluded.
ACQUITTED: Anti-terrorist court No 2 on Wednesday acquitted two persons of kidnapping charge following change of statement by the witnesses.
According to prosecution, accused Asif and Shahbaz kidnapped a minor boy Ahsan for ransom in Kamoki on Dec 12, 2000.
