Three killed in fresh Kurram clashes

PARACHINAR, Sept 4: Three people were killed and six others injured in clashes between warring tribes in Kurram Agency on Thursday.

Sources said that mortars, missiles, rockets and automated weapons were being used by the rival Turi and Bangash tribes in Sadda, Pewar, Balishkhel, Khwar Kalley, Bagzai and Karman areas of the region.

With the latest killings, the death toll since the outbreak of sectarian violence in the agency has risen to 600 with thousands of people having suffered injuries.

The people of the area are facing a severe shortage of food, medicine, fuel and other essentials items because the main Peshawar-Parachinar road and link roads are closed.

Telephone exchanges in Parachinar, Sadda and several other areas are not functioning and the main power supply line was damaged by tribesmen in Bagan three days ago.
