RAWALPINDI, Sept 4: An under-trial prisoner died in Adiala jail apparently of police torture, while another man was shot dead and his father was injured when their rival group attacked them in Chontra on Thursday, police said.

Mohammad Shabir was taken into custody by the Ganjmandi police on Aug 24 and was formally arrested on September 27 in a narcotics case. His relatives claimed he was kept in detention by the police for four days during which he was subjected to sever torture.

He was shifted to Adiala jail where he complained of severe pain and was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital where he died on Thursday.
