Shazad Mohammadan triumph in PLF clash

KARACHI, Sept 2: Nazimabad Football Club and Usmanabad Union played a goalless draw while Shazad Mohammadan registered a 2-1 win against Karachi Kickers in the two KASB Premier League Football (PLF) matches played at the lush City District Government Karachi Ground on Monday night.

The Nazimabad FC and Usmanabad Union encounter although goalless, turned out to be an exciting match. The sharing of points as a result of the draw now has Nazimabad on five points and Usmanabad on one.

In the other match, Karachi Kickers got a taste of their first defeat at the hands of defending champions Shazad M’Dan, thanks to the efforts of Sohail Baloch and Waheed Gul.

The fast-paced match saw both sides on attack from the very start.

The 23rd minute saw right-out Asghar Baloch getting possession of the ball, which he dribbled towards the right corner from where his cross pass reached skipper Sohail Baloch, who then headed it into the goal without giving Kickers’ goalkeeper Usman Sr any chance to block it.

The match also saw Kickers’ Saeed Alam leaving the field for the rest of the match after receiving two continuous yellow cards in the 28th and 29th minutes.

An attempt from 30-metres in the 60th minute saw striker Waheed Gul succeeding to score when the ball reached its target from the left side.

Karachi Kickers could only reduce the deficit in the 78th minute when their striker Abdullah Amin converted a cross pass from midfielder Mohammad Khan.

The final moments of the match saw Kickers’ frontrunners Abdullah, Fareed Alam, Abdul Aziz and midfielder Mohammad Khan putting forth their best efforts to equalise but Shazad M’Dan’s goalkeeper Naveed Baloch said nothing doing.

But even after losing the match, Karachi Kickers, with nine points, are still heading the points table followed by Shazad M’Dan with eight.
