HYDERABAD, Sept 2: Protesting against what it called the media trial of People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, the Sindh People’s Youth Organisation (SPYO) has said that those forces which are trying to salvage the sinking ship of the establishment should stop negative propaganda against him.

Speaking at the news conference here on Tuesday, the president of SPYO’s Sindh chapter, Aajiz Dhamrah, Hyderabad division president Ahsan Ali Abro, and other leaders said that their organisation would stage protest demonstrations at all district headquarters of the province on September 4 against the media trial of Mr Zardari.

They said that it was due to the ‘political acumen’ of Mr Zardari that former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was forced to resign from his post.

They hailed the decisions of their leader to contest the presidential elections and condemned a campaign of character assassination launched against him by the opposing candidates.

Those who were proclaiming Mr Zardari as a ‘mental case’ were themselves mentally paralysed, they said.

They said all political parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-N and national and international media had acknowledged Mr Zardari following the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto as a ‘seasoned politician’ but they were now flabbergasted as they were sure of the victory of Zardari in the presidential elections.

They condemned the allegations of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) against Mr Zardari of breach of promises and reminded them that they themselves had kept the public ignorant of their agreement with General Musharraf about the period of exile.

They said at a later stage the PML-N had admitted that the agreement to remain in exile was not for 10 years but for five years.

The PML-N should tell to the nation under what law it had signed the agreement with a military dictator, the youth leaders said.
