KARACHI: Bail for nazim

Published September 3, 2008

KARACHI, Sept 2: Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali, meanwhile, granted protective bail to the district nazim of Shikarpur, Arif Khan Mehar.

Advocate Adnan Memon submitted on behalf of the petitioner nazim that he was implicated in a blind FIR, which did not name him as an accused, registered by the Rahimyar Khan police.

The Punjab home department sought his custody and the Sindh government issued a directive for his arrest for production before a R.Y. Khan sessions court. However, the Punjab home department withdrew its request subsequently.

He requested the court to allow him protective bail to enable him to appear before the RY Khan court and seek his release on bail and acquittal.
