TAIPEI, Aug 30: Taiwan’s government has targeted economic growth of 5.08 per cent in 2009, up from the forecast 4.3 per cent this year, despite the global economic slowdown, it was reported on Saturday.

The 2009 gross domestic product is forecast to rise 700 billion Taiwan dollars to 1.42 trillion Taiwan dollars, and per capita GDP is estimated at $19,756, according to the government budget proposed by the cabinet, the United Daily News said.—AFP
