Angry mob attacks Lesco office

LAHORE, Aug 29: An angry mob ransacked an Lahore Electric Supply Corporation (Lesco) office near Aryan Building on Mohni Road and thrashed its two employees in protest against long power outages on Friday.

A Rescue 1122 official said Lesco employees Imran, 25, and Asim Bashir, 30, were taken to Mayo Hospital with critical wounds.

Reports said a large number of people gathered outside the Lesco office and shouted slogans against the officials for unscheduled loadshedding. Later, they entered the office and damaged its property. They also injured two employees on resistance.

Protests against unscheduled loadshedding were also reported from other parts of the city.

ACCIDENT: A newly-wed couple was killed in a road accident in Barkat Town, Shahdara, on Friday morning.

Police said Mian Saqib, a constable in FIA, and his wife were going on a motorcycle when a truck hit them near Barkat Town. Both of them died on the spot.

Soon after the accident, some passersby took away cash, cell phones and other valuables of the couple which made it difficult for the police to identify them.

Saqib had contracted marriage with Sadaf a couple of months ago.
