BAHAWALPUR, Aug 29: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered six cases against 34 government officials and contractors for their alleged involvement in corruption in six mega projects costing millions of rupees in Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan districts.

ACE Director Shah Husain said on Friday these cases were registered on Thursday after a thorough inquiry and scrutiny of the projects conducted by the teams of Nespak and Wasa engineers.

The inquiry was conducted on the orders of the chief minister during his recent visit to Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan on the complaints of PML-N men.

The ACE director said none of the nominated accused, including two executive engineers and as many SDOs, had so far been arrested.

However, he said ACE officials were making efforts for their arrests.

Mr Husain said cases were registered against the officials for using substandard material in the Yazman sewerage scheme, Tibba Badar

Shair development project and Khairpur Tamewali sewerage project in Bahawalpur district.

While in Rahim Yar Khan district, the substandard material was used in the water supply scheme (Liaquatpur), deaf and dumb school and stadium (Khanpur) and a canal road (Rahim Yar Khan), he said.
