Strike against power outages

LARKANA, Aug 29: A strike was observed and a procession was taken out in Dokri on Friday in protest against unannounced and prolonged power shutdown.

Traders’ leaders led the procession. The protestors assembled at the Haider Bakhsh Jatoi Chowk and made speeches.

They alleged that Hesco officials were carrying out 10 to 16 hours daily unscheduled loadshedding.

The loadshedding had severely disturbed the daily life while low voltage paired with inflated bills had worsened the situation, they said.

Hesco staff had declined to repair damaged transformers, they said.

Meanwhile, power supply to Qambar town was suspended on Friday as the main gird station had developed fault.

Hesco technicians were called from Larkana to rectify the fault.

Qambar town is already facing long spells of outages that have severely affected the trade activities and routine life.

The Citizens’ Action Committee had called for repairing the faulty transformers and stop sending inflated bills.

They announced that they would lay a siege to the gird station on Saturday and gave a shutterdown strike call for Monday if the unannounced loadshedding was not stopped and transformers were not repaired.
