THATTA, Aug 29: The Shirazi group of Thatta, affiliated to the PML-Q, is reported to have agreed to support Asif Ali Zardari in the presidential election.

Sources said that Aijaz Shirazi and his group’s old ally Mohammad Ali Khan Malkani held a meeting with PPP’s MNA Faryal Talpur at the Sindh House in Islamabad on Thursday night.

The meeting was attended by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza.

The sources said that two other members of the group, Thatta district nazim Shafqat Hussain Shah Shirazi and MNA Ali Shah Shirazi, were in the capital but they did not attend the meeting.

The Shirazi group has one member in the National Assembly and two in the Sindh assembly.
