ISLAMABAD, Aug 28: Karachi-based spearhead Naila Rani slotted the lone goal against Islamabad as Wapda entered the final for the third time after 2005 and 2006.

They will take on Rawalpindi’s Young Rising Stars, who demolished titlist Punjab University’s Sports Sciences Department FC 1-0 after a 0-0 draw at the end of duration time, in the final of the 4th National Women’s Football Championship 2008.

The first semi-final between Wapda and Islamabad saw Wapda dominating the second session after several missed chances in the first half that resulted in no goals being scored. Islamabad’s defence failed to block Wapda’s forwards as Naila Rani scored for the winners in the 41st minute.

The second semi-final between Young Rising Stars and Punjab University’s Sports Sciences Department FC was decided on penalty kicks after a goalless encounter.
