SWABI, Aug 28: A farmer was killed when villagers encountered robbers and exchanged fire with them in Mughal Kot area, about 30 kilometres from here on Wednesday night.

The villagers, according to an understanding reached among the elders, were keeping a vigil at night to check entry of outlaws into the village, when they spotted the robbers. During the exchange of fire, a farmer, Ihsanullah, received a bullet and died on the spot. The robbers escaped from the area.

The residents of Tordher, Zaida, Maneri, Razar and other areas have also started keeping night vigil in their areas to ensure security of life and property.
