KARACHI, Aug 27: The Sindh government has fixed retail fresh milk price at Rs37 per litre through a notification issued here on Wednesday.

The notification states that the provincial livestock and fisheries department has notified the following prices of fresh milk in the limits of the city district Karachi with immediate effect: At production/farm level: Rs34 per litre, at wholesale level Rs35 per litre and at retail level Rs37 per litre. It said that the rates were being notified in pursuance of the orders of the chief secretary Sindh and in compliance with the orders of the Sindh High Court vide C.P. No.D-225/2007, as well as in the light of the advice of the advocate general Sindh communicated vide letter No.AG-2654, dated Aug 13, 2008, and after affording ample opportunities of hearing and explanation to the petitioners, procedures, wholesalers and the public functionaries concerned.—PPI
