KARACHI, Aug 26: Karachi Kickers beat Karachi United Football Club 5-2 at the DHA Stadium on Monday night.

Sunday night’s KASB Premier League Football match which was postponed due to poor light at the National Coaching Centre was played at the DHA Stadium the following day.

Skipper Zeeshan Tara contributed two goals and Mohammad Khan, Fareed Alam and Irfan Junejo scored one each for the winners. Meanwhile, Shahid Khan and Daniyal Alvi scored for Karachi United.

The winners opened scoring in the 25th minute through their midfielder Mohammad Khan but parity was restored almost immediately, just two minutes later, by Karachi United’s Daniyal Alvi. This was followed by skipper and striker Zeeshan Tara’s managing to net the ball from a difficult angle in the 33rd minute to make the score line 2-1 at interval.

The 47th minute saw striker Fareed Alam bringing in the third goal for Kickers followed by midfielder Mohammad Khan’s pass to Zeeshan, which he ably converted in the 58th minute.

The 62nd minute saw Karachi United’s striker Shahid Khan making the score 4-2.

The match’s most spectacular goal was scored in the 78th minute when Zeeshan’s pass from centre line was received by left-out Irfan Junejo who then quickly ran with it while dodging two opponents to reach the box where he kicked in the ball with full force leaving Karachi United’s goalkeeper Gilani no chance whatsoever to block it.

The 80th minute brought with it a chance for Karachi United to reduce the margin when they were awarded a penalty, taken and wasted by striker Shahid Khan when goalkeeper Usman Sr succeeded in blocking his attempt by diving to pounce on the ball coming his way from the left.
