Zohaib lifts golf title

KARACHI, Aug 24: Promising Zohaib Asif of the DHA Golf Club won the second Sindh Governor’s Golf Cup, which concluded at the DHA Golf Club course on Sunday.

Zohaib accumulated 147 by firing rounds of 74 and 73 in the two-day competition played over 36 holes.

Defending champion Ali Sher of the Sindh Golf Association (SGA) finished runner-up carding 74, 74 for a total score of 148.

However, the former champion stole the limelight by scoring Hole-in-One and was duly rewarded Rs10,000 by the SGA president, Aslam R. Khan, for the feat.

Commodore (retired) S.I. Hussain clinched the Veteran’s trophy while the Ladies trophy went to Shahida Ismail.

In handicap 0 to 5 category, Ali Sher won the first prize followed by Rafiq Malik and Rufin Shamim.

In handicap 6 to 11 category, Lt Irfan Rasheed emerged victorious. He was followed by Cdr. Shazli Azher and Shahid Azeem Khan.

Vajih Khan topped in handicap 12 to 14 category with Ausaf Qureshi second.

In senior 0 to 9 handicap category, Murtaza Qasim topped the contestants with Rehan Mirza and Khizer Naqvi occupying the second and third places, respectively.
