SIALKOT, Aug 24: A proclaimed offender (PO) was killed in a shootout with police along the banks of Marala Ravi Link Canal near Sahowala village in Daska tehsil on Sunday.

DPO Capt Muhammad Ameen (retired) told reporters that two armed motorcyclists were fleeing after looting some villagers in Motra.

On a tip-off, the Motra police started chasing them and spotted them near Sohowala. The robbers shot at the police party and one robber, later identified as Muhammad Yousaf, was killed in the ensuing shootout while his accomplice fled. The DPO said that Yousaf was wanted in 26 robbery, kidnapping for ransom and murder cases.

DEMAND: The Pakistan Gloves Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PGMEA) has urged Wapda to revive its subsidy after the consumption of 50 units of electricity.

PGMEA central chairman Suhail Masud said that Wapda had abolished its special subsidy after the consumption of 50 units of electricity which would hamper exports.

He said that rising POL prices had already enhanced the cost of production, which had put all Pakistani products out of competition in international markets as China, India, Thailand and Taiwan were producing cheaper products.
