KARACHI, Aug 23: League-topper Karachi Port Trust (KPT) suffered their second defeat when they went down to Afghan FC 0-2 at Chaman on Saturday evening. The 60th encounter of Pakistan Premier Soccer League 2008 saw the home team scoring both goals in the second session after a dull first half.

KPT played their usual steady game, going through the motions stoically and at their own pace.

Afghans, spurred by massive and passionate crowds at the Govt High School, always looked dangerous on counter-attacks, one of which brought about the equaliser in the 26th minute as Hayatullah drilled a Jadeed Khan pass into the side-netting.

Both goals emerged in the second. Jadeed Khan hoodwinked three defenders to open the scoring in the 51st minute and Muhammad Ali completed the second goal in the 84th.

Sunday’s fixtures: Wapda v Army at Railway Stadium, Lahore; Pak Elektron Limited v Khan Research Laboratories at Raiders FC Ground, Faisal Town, Lahore. Both matches kick off at 5.30pm.—Agencies
