KARACHI, Aug 23: Nazimabad Football Club thrashed Gulshan Football Club 5-0 while Mauripur Baloch beat Usmanabad Union 1-0 in the two KASB Premier League Football matches played at the lush green National Coaching Centre ground on Friday night.

Nazimabad FC, who in their previous encounter drew 0-0 with Mauripur Baloch, finally got what they had been looking for in beating Gulshan by such a big margin.

Three of the goals came in the first half alone. In the 10th minute, striker Hameed Afridi converted a cross pass from fellow striker Atif Baloch. Eight minutes later, Nazimabad’s winger Faiz Mohammad netted a pass from midfielder Jaffer. The 41st minute saw Atif heading in a cross pass from Hameed Afridi.

Two minutes into the second half and Hameed Afridi got possession of the ball near the centre line, which he kept with him while ably dodging three of his opponents to reach the box where even Gulshan’s goalkeeper Sehrab couldn’t prevent its ending up into the goal. The 87th minute saw Faiz Mohammad bringing in the fifth goal for Nazimabad.

The following match between Mauripur Baloch and Usmanabad Union started with both teams looking good to score many goals but nothing happened in the initial half hour.

The 30th minute saw Mauripur’s Sameer getting a yellow card for rough play, his second in the tournament so far, which means that he will be sitting out the next match. Then Usmanabad Union’s Mohammad Rashid too was awarded two yellow cards in the 35th and 42nd minutes, which not only resulted in his having to leave the field here and then but also missing his side’s next match.

Meanwhile the team had to carry on with one player short, an advantage that Mauripur Baloch cashed in on in the 81st minute through their striker Adam Jee.
