Bulleh Shah’s Urs begins tomorrow

KASUR, Aug 23: Preparations are in full swing for Hazrat Baba Bulleh Shah’s 251st Urs which is being celebrated here from Aug 25-27.

The religious purpose committee and the Kasur district administration are making arrangements for the Urs. The sufi poet’s shrine will be given Ghusal on Sunday (today).

Auqaf Secretary Muhammad Tariq Ayub will open the Urs celebrations on Monday. The Bulleh Shah conference, which attracts people from the US, India and Singapore, will open on Tuesday.

Kasur District Police Officer Rao Abdul Kareem told a press conference on Saturday that foolproof security arrangements had been made for the Urs.

Last year, fresh recruits deployed at the Urs by the police department could not handle the situation.

As far as uplift work at and around the shrine is concerned, the district Auqaf department has failed to complete the Mega Bulleh Shah Project despite an allocation of Rs30 million for the purpose. The decision of the district government to repair the road in front of the shrine at the eleventh hour would add to devotees’ problems. Another road, which leads to Kasur from Lahore, is also under construction for the last few weeks.
