The two policemen who were on a motorbike saw the car of the industrialist going towards the city and signalled it to stop at a traffic signal near the Michani Gate police station. The suspected kidnappers opened fire, killing and injuring the policemen and the passerby, and escaped when police followed them. They left the industrialist and his car near Bakhshi Pul on Charsadda Road.
