RAWALPINDI, Aug 22: An anti-terrorism court here on Friday awarded a 10-day physical remand of a suspected suicide bomber who was arrested soon after the Thursday’s twin attacks in Wah Cantonment.

Acceding to the submission of the Rawalpindi police, ATC-II Judge Sakhi Mohammad Kahot granted the remand of Hameedullah Mehsud, a resident of Waziristan, who was reportedly arrested from Gate No. 1 of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) when two suicide attackers blew themselves up at two different gates of the sprawling defence complex, killing at least 70 people.

Confirming the remand orders, which were obtained after the normal court timings, City Police Officer Rao Mohammad Iqbal said the police had also recovered one grenade and a suicide vest from Hameedullah’s possession.

The CPO said investigations were continuing and they might lead to more arrests.
