JI chief seeks Musharraf’s trial

ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: Demanding immediate reinstatement of the deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry through an executive order, Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Friday said that former president Pervez Musharraf should be produced and tried in the ‘Chaudhry Court’.

“We want Musharraf to be tried in the court of Iftikhar Mohammed Chaudhry. We would not let the former president flee the country without facing trial and we would not let the government to provide indemnity to the former dictator,” the JI chief told a public gathering here.

He said majority of the people wanted the former president tried in a court of law. He lashed out at the army for giving him guard of honour adding that the former dictator did not deserve any protocol.

“He (Musharraf) is killer of thousands of innocent people, children and women. He slaughtered students of Lal Masjid. His colleagues and remnants should also be tried equally. The JI would continue struggle till the production of former general in a court of law,” Mr Hussain remarked.

The JI leader went on to say that Pervez Musharraf should be hanged to what he said for the peace of the souls of those innocent people who were killed by the former president. “Musharraf should be executed,” he added.

Mr Hussain said that the government was taking U-turn on Kashmir cause saying that the unrest in tribal areas was due to the involvement of America and India and added that the government should made public the names of Indian and American spies responsible for the unrest in tribal areas.
