RAWALPINDI, Aug 21: Azad Kashmir government and military organisations owe a combined amount of over Rs1.497 billion in arrears to Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco).

According to a press release issued by the power utility, a number of army organisations have to pay electricity bills amounting to Rs242.521 million while the Azad Kashmir government owe Rs1,255.168 million.

Keeping the huge amount of arrears in view, Iesco has issued a warning to all defaulters, including domestic, commercial, industrial, government, semi-government and autonomous bodies to clear the amount they owe to the utility or else power supply to them would be suspended on August 28.

The defaulting departments and their outstanding dues released by the Iesco are: Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Rs1,253.985 million; AJK connections in Pakistan, Rs1.183 million; federal government hospitals, Rs13.686 million; Capital Development Authority (CDA), Rs116.852 million; Ministry of Education, Rs2.639 million; Ministry of Haj and Auqaf, Rs5.756 million; Ministry of Environment and Urban Affairs, Rs1.195 million; CWO, Rs3.844 million; CDA for President’s Secretariat, Rs7.511 million; CDA for Chairman of Senate connections, Rs13.250 million; Federal Bureau of Revenue, Rs1.196 million; Pakistan Secretariat, Rs35.081 million; Chief Commissioner, Islamabad, Rs5.548 million; Director-General, Registration (Nadra), Rs1.119 million; Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology (AFIC), Rawalpindi, Rs6.965 million; Defence Production Division, Rs1.967 million; Ministry of Industries and Production, Rs1.149 million; Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC), Rs3.407 million; Special Communications Organisation (SCO), Rawalpindi, Rs1.083 million; Health Department, Rawalpindi District Government, Rs1.150 million; PWD, Rs38.462 million; Capital Police, Rs23.239 million; Frontier Works Organisation (FWO), Rs1.941 million; National Logistic Corporation (NLC), Rs2.844 million; Punjab Jail and Convict Settlement, Rs3.370 million; Rawalpindi Cantonment Board, Rs97.774 million; Chaklala Cantonment Board, Rs125.835 million; Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) of Rawal Town, Rs6.658 million; Garrison Engineering Services (MES), Rs29.566 million; and Garrison Engineer (A) Chaklala, Rs20.713 million.

Other defaulters are Garrison Engineer (DP) HIT Taxila, Rs2.710 million; Garrison Engineer, Attock, Rs1.363 million; Garrison Engineer, Nowshera, Rs1.404 million and Garrison Engineer, Jhelum, Rs1.479 million.
