MIRPURKHAS, Aug 18: The Civil Hospital of Mirpurkhas is facing a severe shortage of medicines for a few weeks depriving the patients of their right to get free medicines.
According to Civil Surgeon, Dr Roshan Ali Bhatti, in June no budget for medicine was provided to the hospital while in July Rs1.166 million were released by the district government out of which only 25 per cent of this amount i.eRs291,650 was used to buy medicine while the remaining amount went to the pool of EDO health.
He said that yearly allocation of budget for medicine was Rs14 million for the hospital which, too, was insufficient.
He further said that there was an immediate need of about Rs700,000 to purchase medicines for the hospital.
