KARACHI, Aug 18: A 45-year-old woman was shot at and wounded by the father-in-law of her daughter in Saeedabad here on Monday.

The police said that the wounded woman reached the police station and reported the incident to the police.

Dur Bibi, wife of Allah Dad, told the police that she was on her way to visit a relative when Ghulam Hussain, father-in-law of her daughter, opened fire on her near KMC graveyard.

A duty officer at the police station told Dawn that the suspect was arrested and booked in two cases (FIRs 329 and 330) for attempting to kill the woman under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and Section 13-D of the Arms Ordinance for possessing an unlicenced pistol.

He said that both the injured woman and the suspect belonged to a Baloch family. The police officer said that the police had seized the weapon used in the offence.

The wounded woman was shifted to the Civil Hospital where sources said that a bullet only grazed the neck of the victim.
