ISLAMABAD, Aug 17: Renowned poet Ahmed Faraz, who is under treatment at Shifa International Hospital since August 4, is in critical but stable condition.

A close family friend told Dawn on Sunday that Ahmed Faraz was being treated for kidney malfunction and heart problem at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He said Mr Faraz was stable but in the ICU and requested his fans to pray for the health of the ailing poet.

Ahmed Faraz, 76, had been under treatment for multiple health problems at a hospital in Chicago. He was flown back to Pakistan in the company of a nurse and his son as his family members believed that he might recover in his home environment. —Staff Reporter
